Violet Sunday

The Violet Sunday Project (2009) is composed two actions: an explosion of smoke and the distribution of candy floss, both the smoke and the candy floss being of an intense violet hue. The smoke action on River Guaíba lasts 15 minutes. The significance of the smoke is a paradox: while it alludes to war and violence it also signals celebration. The meanings, as well as the material which the smoke is made of , are unstable. In order to emphasize this instability the artist utilised candy floss, which enables the spectator not only to visualize the smoke but also to taste texture, transformation and instability.The colour selected by the artist is an important element. Violet is constituted by the smallest wavelengths of visible light and is the last colour on the spectrum – in other words, it is the closest colour to the indistinguishable.

O projeto Domingos Violeta (2009) compõe-se de duas ações: uma explosão de fumaça e a distribuição de algodão-doce, sendo que tanto a fumaça quanto o algodão-doce são num tom de violeta intenso.A ação com fumaça no rio Guaíba dura quinze minutos. O significado da fumaça é um paradoxo: ao mesmo tempo em que alude à guerra e à violência, também é um sinal de celebração. Tanto os significados quanto o material de que é feita a fumaça são instáveis. Para enfatizar essa instabilidade, usei o algodão-doce, que permite que o espectador visualize a fumaça e também saboreie a transformação de texturas e a instabilidade.A cor violeta é constituída dos menores comprimentos de ondas de luz visíveis, e é a última cor do espectro – em outras palavras, é a cor mais próxima do indistinguível.
